UX Designer - Home & Navigation

Why Do We Have This Role

The Home & Navigation team plays a crucial role in ensuring our users have a seamless and intuitive experience within the Qualtrics ecosystem. By developing a global, consistent navigation framework and personalized homepages, this team centralizes and facilitates action on our customers’ most important experience management needs. We are seeking a UX Designer to bring fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to these foundational elements, ensuring our navigation system delivers a cohesive and user-friendly experience across a robust set of product touch points.

How You’ll Find Success

To excel in this role, you will need to navigate ambiguity with flexibility and adaptability, embracing change as it comes. Your systems thinking approach will enable you to holistically design cohesive user experiences across a broad range of screens and components. By contributing to our design system, content standards, and frameworks, you’ll effectively scale our solutions. Clear and regular communication about your work, decisions, and needs is crucial, along with a proactive, solution-oriented approach to complex design challenges. Your ability to evaluate multiple solutions, understand trade-offs, and apply design and content systems will be key. Collaborating with engineering and product management partners, you will negotiate constraints and utilize available research and data to inform your design decisions. If you’re passionate about enhancing navigation across the entire Qualtrics ecosystem, this role is perfect for you!

How You’ll Grow

As a UX Designer for our Home & Navigation team, you’ll join a dynamic group of forward-thinking designers, researchers, product managers, and engineers who apply systems thinking in our Shell and Design System space. You’ll grow by:

  • Collaborating closely with our Design System team to improve the experience of building and using experience management products, becoming an advocate for both users and the teams delivering best-in-class products.

  • Working on foundational interfaces and patterns, such as our highly visible global navigation UI, which are integral to every customer’s interaction with our product.

  • Developing new standards for how core design patterns are shared and documented, empowering engineers worldwide to seamlessly use these patterns and build with confidence.

  • Understanding our users’ needs and advocating for best UX practices to integrate Qualtrics into their workflows, thereby improving the quality of their work.

  • Continuously expanding your knowledge of the product and information space, which will help you strengthen your point of view and contribute to strategic decisions as you become more well-versed in the product.

Things You’ll Do

  • Explore multiple ways to solve complex problems— identifying constraints, pros, cons, tradeoffs, and knowledge gaps.

  • Design and iterate on interaction design frameworks, translating them into high-fidelity wireframes and UI patterns used across the product.

  • Scale your end-to-end solutions and contributions to the design system through documentation and evangelizing design-thinking across the product and organization.

  • Participate in UX critiques, refining your skills in presenting your work and providing and receiving feedback.

  • Partner with your Engineering and Product leads on a product roadmap that pushes the boundaries of what it means to be a market-leading Experience Company.

What We’re Looking for on Your Resume

  • 1-3 years as an information architect, user experience or interaction designer.

  • Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related fields such as Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Visual Arts, or Computer Science. Master’s preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in shipping and maintaining multiple products and features, with an online portfolio showcasing your work and design process.

  • Work that illustrates a strong understanding of foundational design frameworks and clear rationale behind your design solutions.

  • Experience working with and contributing to a design system.

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in breaking down complex problems into digestible formats.

  • Knowledge of web accessibility principles and experience in building accessible solutions.

  • Proficiency in Figma.

  • Experience working on navigation or information architecture projects is highly preferred.
